Grades matter. Scores matter. At IST, YOU matter too.
We begin with diagnostics designed to assess each student's strengths, weaknesses and learning style(s).  Next, we create a custom academic program that is personalized for the individual student's needs, whether in a one-on-one or small group setting.
We meet you where you are and the sky's the limit!
Our core values are firmly rooted in the belief that every student holds an inherent brilliance that gains power in an environment that supports diverse learning styles and multiple means of raising student  achievement.  Our ultimate goal for each student is independent mastery.
We specialize in building cultures of success.
We create long-term relationships with our students and their families through high levels of expectation and proven results. Our entire team celebrates each student's accomplishments, no matter how big or small.  Nearly all of our students continue with IST for multiple services, including after-school tutoring, homework help, summer enrichment, standardized test prep, private school admissions, college planning and more.

COLLEGE ADMISSIONS EXAMS

SAT Prep Private Tutoring

One-on-one
tutoring (and small group tutoring) for the math and evidence-based reading and writing sections of the SAT is available. We recommend that students take the SAT in the spring of their junior year. Please allow for up to 10 weeks of tutoring (twice a week) prior to the exam.

SAT Subject Test Prep

Many competitive colleges and universities require up to three SAT Subject Tests (in addition to the SAT) to assess a student’s skills in specific areas like math, history, physical sciences, literature and foreign languages. Private tutoring is available with IST’s subject matter experts, who help students master the  exam content and learn key test-taking strategies. We recommend that students take the SAT Subject Tests as soon as possible after they complete the course related to each test (normally at the end of junior year or the beginning of senior year).

ACT Prep

We recommend that students take the ACT in the spring of their junior year. Due to the nature of the test, we offer ACT prep as a private tutoring option only. Please allow for up to 10 weeks of tutoring (twice a week) prior to the exam.

"It is with great pleasure that we wanted to let you know that K – will be graduating in 2 weeks from the Prep-for-Prep program (P4P – Contingency XXXVIII). She has been offered a full-scholarship at an independent school on the Upper West Side in New York City. My wife and I wanted to share this with you as you planted the initial seeds that have carried K into this process.

We are just excited where K is and how much she has progressed from the time that you took her under your wings – 2 summers ago (June/July 2014). We want to invite you to come up to the graduation to share this moment with you and be grateful for the seeds that you planted in K!"

“Taking IST’s SAT prep course increased my level of confidence toward standardized testing. It made a difference in my SAT score and my overall approach to the exam. I had a lot of confidence after taking the courses at IST. Not only did my SAT scores increase by 230 points, but my grades in school were higher. Thank you, IST!”

"We highly recommend IST! We wanted to prepare our daughter for the HSPT and though she is a high performing student we wanted to identify and strengthen any weak areas. We took her to IST where an extensive pretest exam was given, her results were thoroughly explained, and recommendations were provided. We enrolled our daughter in several weeks of one-on-one tutoring and were extremely pleased with the quality and thoroughness of the tutor. The staff is very supportive and encouraging. Our daughter excelled on the HSPT exam and was awarded an Academic Scholarship to her High School of choice! We will certainly be back to IST when preparing for the SAT!!!"
